Annual Ghar Baithak
We continue our tradition of opening the music season with the annual Ghar Baithak for paid members and their Families to show case their musical talent. Join us for this community event and see some of the great homegrown musicians Houston has to offer. Please note, the date for this event is tentatively February 23, with an alternate date of March 9.
Ashwini Bhide Deshpande
We present Vidhushi Ashwini Bhide Deshpande in a recital by the renowned vocalist of the of Jaipur Gharana. Accompanying artists are Pandit Ramdas Palsule on Tabla and Sri Sidhesh Bicholkar on Harmonium. Join us for the rare opportunity to experience one of India's top classical vocalist in an up close and personal setting.
Omkar Dadarkar
IMS Houston presents one of the acclaimed upcoming artists of his generation. A disciple of none other than the legendary Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar. Accompanied by Sanjay Deshpande on Tabla; and Milind Kulkarni on Harmonium, this concert is sure to be a delight.
Anand Bhate
IMS Houston presents the renowned vocalist Sri Anand Bhate in a program jointly hosted with the Houston Maharashtra Mandal. A disciple of the late Bharat Ratna, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Anand ji is one of the most sought after vocalists of his generation. This is a program not to be missed! He will be accompanied by Sudhir Naik on Harmonium and Bharath Kamath on Tabla.
Flute Recital By Godkhindi Family
IMS Houston presents Pandit Praveen Godkhindi, with son Master Shadaj Godkhindi and brother Kiran Godkhindi on Tabla. The Godkhindis are probably the first family which has three generations playing the Bansuri together on the stage. The presentation of their concert is so unique that the music connoisseur loves the combination, playing in tandem trying to outdo each other in a playful jest and always complimenting each other. Josh Feinberg
IMS Houston presents a Sitar performance by Josh Feinberg, a disciple of the late Ustad Ali Akhbar Khan. Raised in a musical family, Josh was introduced to music through classical piano at four years old and later, the bass at eight. As Josh entered adolescence he became increasingly dedicated to music and improvisation. He began studying jazz and through that path found North Indian classical music.
